What If Meds Don't Work For Me?

The field of psychiatry has been mostly based on subjective information to determine treatment plans and not on objective (facts/labs/data) for determining potential treatments. It is the ONLY field of medicine that is structured this way. Imagine for a minute that you go to your Dr and they just look at you and talk to you a bit and say " You need cholesterol medication" without having any labs to say that your cholesterol is abnormal. This would not happen. So why does it happen in appointments for depression, anxiety and attention and focus so often?

Here comes brain mapping.... QEEG maps of the brain are an in office procedure that takes about 40 mins start to finish.

The advantage of this mapping is that we can determine your exact sub-type of anxiety, depression, sleep concern or ADHD.

Think about that for a second.... no more guessing on which medications,…

Brain mapping sounds like a great option. I dislike how there is no objective way to diagnose mental health conditions as compared to those of purely physical health.

Why Are Labs Important?

There are many underlying causes and contributions to mental health concerns like anxiety and depression.

Some of these are:

  • Nutrient deficiencies: vitamin D, magnesium, B12, omega 3 fatty acids, carnitine, zinc, and more.

  • Thyroid disorders

  • Heavy metal toxicity

  • Chronic infections

What Is Integrative Mental Health?

What Is Collaborative Care?

Here at Wholeness we believe in creating a comprehensive collaborative care team. Our patients enjoy the blend of a prescribing provider (psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner), Naturopathic Doctor, and therapist. All providers communicate regularly to ensure quality wrap around care.

What Is Integrative Mental Health?

Integrative medicine, also sometimes referred to as functional medicine, takes a whole person approach. This style of medicine looks beyond the combinations of symptoms to see what are the underlying causes. Integrative mental health applies this way of thinking to different mental health conditions. Looking for the underlying cause means identifying metabolic and nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalance, infections and more which can all contribute to symptoms. We look at each person as an individual to create and individualized and custom treatment plan combining medications, supplements, diet and lifestyle interventions.
