Managing Expectations

Have you set your expectations too high while you are home?

Have you created a master TO-DO list to accomplish when you are home? Although this can be very helpful to have a list and set a schedule on how you'd like to finally clean that closet in the basement or go through your closet...be kind to yourself. We are in a very uncertain time which brings increased anxiety and stress. Our bodies need plenty of rest and downtime to keep our immune systems healthy. So you have permission to have rest days. Here are some tips to create balance to at home

1. Keep weekend days as weekend days. Right now all of our days are blending together and this can create a environment that makes 7 days a week a work day. Choose at least 1 day per week where you are dedicated to rest. Rest can look different for different people but the goal of this rest day is to do what fills your cup or your reserves. For some it may be sorting pictures for frames while another it may be watching a few episodes of your favorite show. YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO DO WHAT FILLS YOUR CUP.

2. Set an ideal schedule for you while you are working from home. This will help you manage your time into blocks. This is a great way to build in rest time into your day. Have an end time and stick to it! 3. Set a reasonable goal to work on your TO-DO list. Example could be 1-2 tasks per week or smaller task of 3-4x per week.

4. Remember your physical and mental health are the MOST important right now (and always!) and creating balance is the key to managing both rest and restore and productivity.
