Hydration Station

How much water should I be drinking?

It is probably safe to say that most people are not drinking enough water.

We get busy.

We forget our water bottles.

And some of us just straight up don't like water!

BUT! Hydration is vitally important for overall health but also mental health specifically.

Physical Health benefits of hydration:

  • Hydration helps your brain function better: more energy, better concentration and focus, no brain fog,

  • Hydration helps digestion: prevents constipation, improves nutrient absorption

We recommend to drink about half an ounce, to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight each day.

[Ex. 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces of water a day]

If you are sweating a lot from exercise, the total minimum amount for the day increases.

What counts towards the total amount of “water” per day for hydration?

  • non- caffeinated tea

  • Sparkling water

  • Kombucha

  • Coconut water

  • Electrolyte water

Some signs and symptoms of dehydration

  • Headaches

  • Dry skin

  • Muscle cramps

  • Fatigue

  • Dizziness

  • Food cravings

If you find you are having trouble getting enough water, here are some things to think about to set yourself up for success:

  1. What temperature do you like your water? - Maybe you need to purchase an insulated bottle to keep the ice cold all day.

  2. How much water do you drink at one time? - Maybe you need to have a bigger water bottle because you drink a lot all at once.

  3. How likely are you to refill your glass/bottle? - Maybe you need to have a bigger water bottle because you know you aren't likely to refill it as often.
